Meet and find buyers for your food, beverage and agri-processing products.

The NWDC invites producers of food and beverage products from the North West Province to potentially exhibit their products at the 2017 Africa’s Big 7  trade expo by applying with the NWDC to exhibit as part of the NWDC pavilion.

Africa’s Big 7 2017 will be hosted at Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand, Johannesburg from 25 to 27 June 2017.

Africa’s Big 7 is the continent’s largest food and beverage industry trade expo. The seven specialised sectors cover everything from fresh produce and ingredients to manufacturing technologies, processing and packaging equipment, retail-ready products, hospitality, retail and international catering and much more.

North West based producers who meet the below qualifying criteria are invited to apply to exhibit through the NWDC by contacting Trade Officer Poloko Maphula on  014 594 2570 or email her on

Should sufficient participants be sourced, the NWDC will cover the stand and exhibition costs of qualifying companies from the province.

Other related costs such as transport and accommodation will be for the particpants’ expense.

Applications to exhibit close on Friday, 2 June 2017.

Qualifying criteria to apply to exhibit:

  • A minimum of one year in operation
  • A minimum of R300 000 asset base
  • A minimum of R300 000 annual turnover
  • Must employ a minimum of 5 employees
  • FICA Compliance
  • Other basic statutory requirements per sector (company registration, tax clearance, company profile, export certificate, copies of Identity documents of directors, copy of business physical address, relevant insurance, all sector licencing, accreditation and registrations

Special consideration could be extended youth, cooperatives women and people with disabilities who do not meet all of the above criteria.

Innovation Indaba 2017

Youth are invited to register for the first-ever Youth in Science, Innovation & Technology Indaba.

The indaba is brought to you by the Department of Science and Technology (DST).  The event will take place in Gauteng during Youth Month, on 9 & 10 June 2017. Its primary objective is to ensure that youth are included and listened to when it comes to the future of South Africa’s Science, Technology and Innovation (STI).

The indaba will include a ministerial roundtable to reflect on achievements, gaps and recommendations for better inclusion and support to youth for the knowledge economy.

Expected Outputs of the indaba are:

  • A Youth in Science and Innovation declaration
  • A Youth in Science and Innovation action plan
  • A Youth in Science and Innovation policy brief
  • A database on youth organisations working in STI
  • Social media to advance the STI dialogue with the youth

The NWDC invites businesses in the North West Province to participate in the China Trader Expo 2016.

The China Trader Expo takes place at China City, Crown Mines, Johannesburg, from 9 to 12 November 2016.

The event is an expo on exporting South African products to China. It shall expose South African products to over 200 entrepreneurs, procurement managers and key decision makers as attending delegates from the Guangdong Province in China. The expo thus provides opportunities for local SMMEs to network and eventually export their products to China.

The focus will be on companies manufacturing products ranging from various industries, such as:

  • Lighting
  • Furniture
  • Bathroom
  • Hardware
  • Electrical Appliances &
  • Related sectors

NWDC’s qualifying criteria:

Companies that meet the following criteria shall be considered for participation:
* A mininum of one year in operation
* A minimum of R300 000 asset base
* A minimum of R300 000 annual turn-over
* Must employ at least five employees
* FICA compliance and all other basic statutory requirements per sector
(e.g. company registration, tax clearance, company profile, copies of ID document of directors, proof of physical business address, etc. etc.)

The South African Reserve Bank invites interested parties to their annual Monetary Policy Forum meeting, to be held in the North West Province.

A panel of senior Reserve Bank representatives will present recent domestic and international developments that have impacted on inflation, motivating the rationale behind the Reserve Bank’s monetary policy stance. NWDC shall also be present at the event, as an event partners to the Reserve Bank.

The monetary policy meeting shall take place as follows:

  • 11:30 – 13:30

NWDC invites provincial companies to apply to exhibit at two upcoming trade shows.

  • Electra Mining Africa 2016 trade show will be held from  12 -16 September at the Expo Centre, Nasrec, Johannesburg.
  • Windhoek Industrial and Agricultural Show takes place 30 Sept – 8 October in Windhoek, Namibia.


Electra Mining Africa has been labelled as “The biggest Mining, Industrial, Machine Tools and Electrical trade show in Southern Africa”.

As part of its ongoing market access initiatives,  NWDC invites North West companies in the mining, industrial, machine tools, electrical and power industries to appply to exhibit.  Electra Mining Africa 2016 is the place to be to source suppliers, manufacturers and distributors for mining, industrial, construction, power generation and machine tools needs. There will be opportunities to see the latest and greatest innovations and technologies in machinery, equipment, products, consumables, services and solutions.

The Windhoek Industrial and Agricultural Show (WIAS or short: the Windhoek Show),  is an annual trade fair in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. The Windhoek Show is the biggest industrial and agricultural exhibition in Namibia. It combines an agricultural exhibition, several industrial and retail offerings, and a range of related facilities. Participants from across the board contribute to making this event the largest of its kind in Namibia.

A Christmas Traders Market will be held at Cookes Lake, Mahikeng on Saturday 12 December 2015.
Come and browse through stalls of local products to find that different and unique hand crafted gift.  By doing that, you will also be supporting local SMMEs.

For children there will be a Santa Clause and the opportunity to post letters to him. Come and shop for the day, or come for a light lunch at Cookes Lake in the festive Christmas atmosphere.

The Christmas Traders Market will be open from 10:00 to 15:00

The Cookes Lake Christmas Traders Market is a special project by the NWDC, supported by FEED, the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality and the Mahikeng Local Municipality.

Saturday, 5 December 2015 will see the formal launch of the Mogwase Farmers’ Market. The fresh produce market will run from 6am to 10am at the Mogwase Complex. All members of the public are invited to rise early and benefit from dew fresh produce directly from the farmers themselves.
