Tshepo Phetla has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer for the North West Development Corporation.
Phetla brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise in the industry. Before joining the NWDC, he was Group Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the Limpopo Economic Development Agency, known as LEDA.

NWDC is set to benefit greatly from his sterling combination of operational and strategic expertise, as he had served on the Boards of Directors amongst others, Tshwane Housing Company (Chairperson), Limpopo Connexion and Sefateng Chrome Mine whilst previous employers include the City of Tshwane, University of Pretoria, Tshwane University of Technology and the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS). He is also the former President of the National Association for Student Development Practitioners (NASDEV).

Phetla holds both a B.Admin (Hons), obtained from the University of the Western Cape, complemented by a Programme for Management Development (PMD) from Harvard University Business School in the USA and a Programme in Business Project Management from the Wits Business School.

“My vision for the NWDC is to see an organisation that is a catalyst in economic development of the province, creating sustainable jobs and wealth for all the people of Bokone Bophirima” says Phetla

When he takes a breather from steering the ship that is NWDC, he enjoys listening to music, sports, travelling and sight-seeing.

Phetla’s appointment brings an end to the period during which the NWDC was under the leadership of Acting CEO Mike Mthimunye, whilst a permanent incumbent was being sought. Phetla’s appointment is effective 1 June 2017. Mthimunye is now serving the NWDC in the capacity of Acting Executive Manager Investment Growth.

The North West Development Corporation is a state-owned entity under the provincial government of the North West Province whose mandate focuses on economic and small business development.
