Producers of the iconic Mokgotsi Smart Bag

Mpho Dialwe is the founder of Veish Group, a pioneering enterprise based in Lonely Park, Mahikeng, South Africa.

The company was officially registered in 2018, following Dialwe’s graduation from the Vaal University of Technology.

He had returned home to face a lack of employment opportunities. This inspired him to use his technical skills and turn these into a business that would provide not just sustainable livelihoods but also address various challenges faced his community.

At first the Veish Group manufactured a range of products, starting with items made from recycled materials. This was a way of addressing one of the community’s many challenges: the widespread problem of unemployment.

In 2022, a traumatic incident involving gender-based violence (GBV) prompted the development of the Mokgotsi Smart Bag. The bag is a wearable safety solution linked to a mobile application designed to tackle contact crimes, GBV, and kidnappings. The Mokgotsi Smart Bag is an innovative product of the Veish Group, designed for individuals aged 7 to 50 years.

Veish’s unique approach to wearable safety technology and its commitment to purpose-driven fashion sets it apart.

Veish has announced plans to host ‘Fashion with Purpose’ events in 2025, with events scheduled to take place in Botswana and in Mahikeng.

The Mahikeng event was successfully held on 5 April 2025, highlighting the company’s commitment to leveraging fashion as a platform for purposeful engagement and impact.

The planned 2025 events are meant to kick-start international collaboration and significantly expand the company’s exports.

The company is setting its sights on opening a large-scale production facility that will push purpose-driven fashion to the next level. These events will also empower local communities through skills training, as Veish aims to do with its large-scale production facility.

• They were recently featured on the Presidency of South Africa’s official YouTube channel and were privileged with the opportunity of designing a custom bag for the President of South Africa.
• In 2023, Veish was a Top 10 finalist in the North West Pitch for Funding competition.
• Their endeavours have also been recognised internationally by very reputable programmes such as the Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship and the BeVisioneers Mercedes-Benz Fellowship.

These achievements point to their growing influence both locally and globally.
