The North West Development Corporation (NWDC), in partnership with key stakeholders, successfully hosted an Informational Workshop for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) at Modisa Lodge in Greater Taung on Thursday, 28 August 2025.
The event, themed “Skills for the Changing World: Empowering Youth and MSMEs,” brought together youth, entrepreneurs, students, and community leaders for a day of knowledge-sharing, skills development, and networking.
The programme featured expert-led sessions on business development strategies, funding opportunities, compliance requirements, and market access and trade facilitation.
Delivering the keynote address, Ms Sam Mudramuthoo, Acting Executive of the Small Business Development Division, underscored the role of collaboration and innovation in driving MSME growth.
Presentations were delivered by Mr Welane Wanzi, NWDC Small Business Development Manager, who outlined the Corporation’s support services, including trade and export facilitation. Additional contributions came from DEDECT’s IED Services, the National Consumer Commission, SEDFA, NEF, and Standard Bank, offering insights and resources for MSMEs to strengthen their businesses.
The workshop concluded with messages of support from representatives of the Greater Taung Local Municipality, Local Economic Development (LED) division, who emphasized the importance of local government in fostering enterprise development. Delegates engaged in networking afterwards to build connections for future collaboration and growth.
One of the MSME attendees used the opportunity to market her business to fellow small business owners. Bonolo Pest Control Solutions (Pty) Ltd is a proudly woman-owned business founded by Bonolo Selaolo, a bold and visionary entrepreneur from Taung.
This was the second MSME workshop hosted by the NWDC this year, following a successful event in Mahikeng on 26 June 2025. The Corporation remains committed to empowering entrepreneurs across the North West Province and driving inclusive economic growth.
