Delegates of the NWDC Board and Executive Management attended the Investing in African Mining Indaba held in Cape Town from 7-9 February 2023.
The Mining Indaba is an international event and a valuable networking platform for facilitating investment into the North West Province and the Bojanala Special Economic Zone from mining companies and the mineral beneficiation and supply value chain.
The NWDC was represented by the Chairperson of the Board, Mr Kopano Konopi, Director and Chairperson of the SEZ Board Committee, Dr Shima Nokaneng, Acting Chief Executive Officer Mr Kabelo Mafokwane, Trade and Investment Manager Lovemore Makunike and Bojanala SEZ Manager Mr Davis Sadike.
The event was opened by President Ramaphosa on 7 February 2023, who in his address pointed out that mining has been the bedrock of African economies for millennia, and plays an important role in development and industrialisation across the continent.

"As the newly appointed Acting Executive of NWDC, it gave me great pride to lead the management delegation to the Mining Indaba 2023. We were joined by the Chairperson of the Board, Mr Kenneth Konopi and Chairperson of our SEZ Committee, Dr Nokaneng. The Mining Indaba provided us with a much needed platform to showcase the investment opportunities of the North West Province and the SEZ in this integral sector. We are confident that the networks made at this event will augur well for the province."
Kabelo Mafokwane, Acting Chief Executive Officer, NWDC
"We are privileged to participate in the 2023 "Investing in African Mining Indaba" with such an expanded delegation and countries post the Covid-19 lockdown. We are almost breathless in making an elevator pitch for the North-West Province's investment value proposition.”
Lovemore Makunike, Trade and Investment Facilitation Manager, NWDC
