Marapyane Complex situated near Hammanskraal, was built by the then Bophuthatswana National Development Corporation (“BNDC”) during 1990 and is wholly owned by North West Development Corporation (Pty) Ltd (“NWDC”). Since inception, the NWDC had several anchor tenants for Marapyane Complex. Unfortunately these tenants did not last for more than a year with the exception of Pep Stores, Barnett’s Furnishers and the church (UCKG) who has been the only tenants in a complex with thirteen shops.
Subsequently, NWDC then leased the other four shops to different people. The church, when they moved in, promised to pray for the complex to be fully occupied.
NWDC tried, with the assistance of the community, to request Shoprite or Checkers to move into the complex as an anchor tenant but without success.
With perseverance from our dedicated staff, and the prayers of the UCKG Church, we are now proud to announce the opening of OK Value, an anchor tenant, in Marapyane. The shop opened on the 19 August 2009. (View pictures). The complex is now, indeed, fully let.
This implies that NWDC can negotiate higher rentals for any tenant that may be interested. We sincerely thank one of our staff members, Ms Kate Mabalane, for the wonderful work done in recruiting this tenant.
