MAHIKENG – NWDC Trade Market Site, 8 November 2024.
Four small business owners from the Ditsobotla Local Municipality received new equipment valued at R1 578 261,54 in support of their businesses.
MEC Bitsa Lenkopane of the Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (DEDECT) handed over the equipment on Friday, 8 November 2024 during a ceremony held at the NWDC Trade Market site in Mahikeng. The North West Development Corporation, DEDECT’s executing entity, procured the equipment.
The four companies that received the equipment are VV Chemicals, Katso’s Treats, M2KBakery and Dirapela Projects.
The equipment hand-over follows the Thunthsa Lerole Accelerated Service Delivery Outreach held in the Ditsobotla local municipality, Itekeng village, in August 2024. During that week’s activities, the NWDC’s Small Business Development division engaged the four SMMEs and determined their business needs and equipment required to grow their businesses.
During the equipment handover ceremony, MEC Lenkopane said that she wishes to increase awareness of how SMMEs and cooperatives are accessing services. MEC Lenkopane added that a process is underway to strengthen the North West Development Corporation to conduct training on equipment received, such as those provided to bakeries and brick-makers.
In concluding the handover, MEC Lenkopane emphasised that she wished to see a return on this investment as these businesses access markets and expand.
Key delegates and role players present at the equipment hand-over were Mr Mojalefa Nale, CEO of the NWDC, Mr Thapelo Mokotedi, Properties Executive, NWDC, Ms Nokuthula Phamodi, Small Business Development Executive, NWDC, Cllr Itumeleng “Mubara” Moarabi of the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality (LED, Agri and Rural Dev), Mr Welane Wanzi, Small Business Manager, NWDC, Ms Neo Magoshane, Procurement, NWDC and Ms Nonhlanhla Sekgoro, Fund Administrator, NWDC.

- Gas double deck oven with gas cylinder
M2K Bakery Received:
- A 50 litre industrial dough mixer
- Industrial dough moulder weight
Dirapela Projects (Catering) received:
- A large heavy duty frame tent
- VIP Flushing mobile Toilet
- Mobile fridge
- Artificial grass carpet
