The Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (DEDECT) and the North West Development Corporation are appealing to applicants of the North West Covid-19 Relief Fund to urgently submit outstanding supporting documents to substantiate their applications.
To date, a total of 6243 applications have been received, and thus far 986 applicants from the informal sector have already received their relief fund pay-outs.
There are, however, a total of 4 141 applications that have been flagged for having either completed the wrong application or who have their supporting documents outstanding. This prevents their application from being further processed for approval and pay-out. Examples of such outstanding supporting documents include copies of identity documents, copies of the trading license or an affidavit and for the formal sector, examples include invoices and/or bank statements required to prove that the business was adversely affected by the lockdown.
Applicants with outstanding documentation will receive an SMS message alerting them that they have supporting documents outstanding that need to be urgently submitted.
To aid the process of identifying applicants with outstanding documentation, the name lists of applicants who have received SMS messages will be made available here below on a regular basis:
Outstanding documents must be submitted to the NWDC within 7 days of receiving the SMS. Two submission methods are available:
Only applicants who have outstanding supporting documents are to submit documents to avoid flooding the system.
Currently, informal sector applications are being prioritised for completion. Thereafter, the evaluation and pay-out of formal sector applications will commence. There is a small number of applications that are waiting in the queue to be captured; once captured, those applicants will be issued with reference numbers.
Inquiries about the nature of outstanding documents should be directed to the Relief Fund Call Centre on 017 422 0116
Call centre hours: Weekdays, 08:00 – 17:00
