Many entrepreneurs are concerned with the results of higher profits in their economic sphere and overlook important issues that can drive the entity to higher levels. It is so sad that our country and particularly our North West province is not growing in terms of Small and medium enterprises.
The concern is so huge that government have even tried to intervene but the condition continues to prevail no matter how hard it is been diagnosed. Think about the simple things that exist in this world because of human mind. The bridges that we have, the cars that we drive and most of all the technology that we use and automatically uses us, its breath taking but it all started in a man’s mind-that is what we call innovation.
To tell the truth everything that you see and witness in the physical has been brainstormed in the spiritual being- or the mind. So our entrepreneurs are so lazy to think of the ways and means of being innovative than the other rivalry, business is about competitive advantage and how best you can outplay your rivals to win the competition. This is where innovation plays a major role and your business survives no matter how hard it may be hit. This is not SWOT analysis, its innovation.
Innovation is something that takes the business from where it is today to where many never thought it could be tomorrow. It’s about selling an Eskimo a fridge whilst he is staying in the iced area. Innovation is thinking beyond what any other ordinary person can think. Look at how innovative was Steve Jobs and Alexander Graham Bell, the other one created the phone and the other created the handset that talks to the world simple and brings the whole world to the palm of your hand. iPhone is the innovation in making-it is one of the accurate innovate tools ever produced in this world and this would be there for generations and generations to come, however the price will still be high and real wallets will only afford not ordinary wallets.
The man who invented the phone (Alexander Graham Bell) once said “The inventor…looks upon the world and is not contented with things as they are. He wants to improve whatever he sees, he wants to benefit the world; he is haunted by an idea. The spirit of invention possesses him, seeking materialization. The guy means his words here; you just can’t stop until the world feels your innovation. It’s a disease and the only cure is that invention syndrome tablet.
It clearly shows that the man could not sleep well until what he wanted to invent was born and so he managed to make the world a favour by giving them a simple measure of communication that the world has never thought can be possible. It’s about passion, about perseverance and most of all about the burning idea inside you that can change the way the world looks.
It’s something to invent the phone but it’s another thing to invent a phone that can bring you the whole world in a small world like the iPhone does.
iPhone shrinks the world and makes you hold it with your right hand-this is what Steve Jobs did to his competitors. It’s called Jobs innovation move. Innovation is the art of growth for any business, no matter the size of that business. It is the class rather than the form. It is the element that can sustain the business throughout the storms of recession and economic downturns. Innovation is an idea rather than money- a business with money but without innovation is doomed, it can hardly survive. Many entrepreneurs are concerned with money, and money without idea (innovation) is the waste of energy. You need innovative business acumen to sail where many drowned and this is what we call mother of all businesses “Innovation”. So let’s stop running after money and loans but rather become innovative and money will come running to us. Let’s talk success factors in our next edition.
