Building Beauty Skills in Rustenburg
In the heart of Rustenburg’s central business district, a young entrepreneur is changing lives through beauty education and opportunity. Athenkosi Valiphathwa Artie is the founder and owner of Artie’s Beautique Training, a growing beauty school and salon that is empowering young people with practical skills and confidence.
Artie’s journey into business was not an easy one. Before becoming a business owner, he worked at a nail college, gaining valuable experience in the beauty industry. However, after losing his job, he refused to let disappointment define his future. Instead, that difficult moment became the motivation he needed to start something of his own. Determined to create opportunities for himself and others, he launched Artie’s Beautique Training in 2023 and officially registered the company in 2024.
Today, the academy offers professional beauty training in a wide range of services. Students are taught how to do nails, professional make-up, wig installation, massages, facials, lash installation, eyebrow tinting and many other beauty treatments. The business also operates a salon that works strictly by appointment, providing clients with quality and personalised beauty services.
What makes Artie stand out is not only his talent, but also his passion for helping others grow. As a highly qualified salon manager, he possesses hands-on skills in all the services offered at his academy and salon. His creativity, professionalism and strong work ethic have helped him build a trusted name in the local beauty industry.
Clients and students describe Artie and his team as kind, patient and welcoming. At Artie’s Beautique Training, students are not rushed through lessons. Instead, they are guided carefully to ensure they fully understand and master each skill. This supportive teaching style has made the academy a safe and inspiring space for many aspiring beauty professionals.
Beyond beauty, Artie is also contributing to youth empowerment and job creation. He has already employed six young people, giving them an opportunity to gain work experience and build careers in the beauty industry. His vision is to continue expanding the business, creating even more employment opportunities and growing the company’s social media presence to reach a wider audience.
Artie’s story is a powerful reminder that setbacks can become stepping stones to success. Through determination, creativity and a passion for empowering others, Athenkosi “Artie” Valiphathwa is building more than just a beauty brand — he is building careers and hope for the future.
