July 25, 2025NWDC participates in G20 ETWG meetings, showcases MSMEs
SUN CITY CONVENTION CENTRE
30 – 31 JULY 2025
Delegates from G20 member states, the North West Province and South Africa converged for the Third Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) meeting.
Delegates from the NWDC attended the main plenary and side-line parallel meetings, while NWDC CEO, Mr Mojalefa Nale, apart from forming part of the plenary, officiated at both the pre-event reception and the gala dinner.
Through the NWDC’s Small Business Development Division, four MSMEs from the province operating in the energy sector attended the event as exhibitors.
The companies that benefited from the market access exposure at the G20 event were Lepharo, Techno Fuels, Hakem Energies, and Rambait Waste Management.
In the year of our G20 presidency, South Africa hosts the G20 ETWG to advance global cooperation on a just and inclusive energy transition.
South Africa’s key priorities in the Energy Transitions Working Group are:
1) Energy Security,
2) Just, Affordable and Inclusive Energy Transitions, and
3) African Interconnectivity.
On the last priority of African interconnectivity, it is important to work on strengthening regional energy collaborations and cooperation, and promoting cross-border energy trade and regional power pools. This is a tool to efficiently integrate cleaner energy systems and ensuring affordable and secure energy for all.
The main theme which emerged was that the ETWG is strategically positioned to ensure energy transition is equitable, participatory and inclusive.
As North West Premier, Lazarus Mokgosi rightly emphasised, speaking at the gala dinner event on 30 July 2025: “The transition to a clean energy future is no longer optional. It is an urgent development necessity. It must respond to the lived experiences of our communities that suffer the indignity of energy exclusion. It must stimulate local economies, create jobs, and unlock innovation. Above all, it must be grounded in addressing the injustices of socio-economic exclusion as informed by our unjust past and prioritise economic reciprocity in the realm of global political economy.”
This successful two-day gathering at Sun City not only showcased energy MSME’s to the world, but also demonstrated the energy working group’s commitment to energy innovation and inclusive growth in shaping a just energy future.
As we look ahead to the G20 Leaders’ Summit in November 2025, the outcomes of the ETWG meetings will serve as a powerful foundation for advancing Africa’s voice in global energy policy.

The G20 Energy Transition Meeting provided invaluable opportunities for Rambait Environmental Solutions. We appreciate the chance to network with key stakeholders, relevant compliance boards, and access potential investment avenues. This experience will undoubtedly support our growth and innovation in sustainable energy solutions.
To me, the event was just so beautifully positioned. It had all the right people there to have a conversation with about clean energy, access and clean cooking. It was so amazing that potential clients that I have been talking to already, could come and see the tangible products on display.
The G20 Energy Working Group exposure was an eye-opener to the direction being taken in the industry in which I operate as an SME. I had the opportunity to network with delegates from various nations as potential partners to my biofuels and synthetic fuels busines
