RUSTENBURG – 21 November 2024
A delegation representing the NWDC and the Office of the Premier conducted a workshop with a Chinese business delegation of investors at the Hunter’s Rest Anew Resort outside Rustenburg.
Being led by Mr Mojalefa Nale, NWDC CEO, the investment workshop took place with a delegation brought in by the China Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council, under the leadership of project coordinator by Mr Lebo Mokgethi.
Mr Nale emphasised to the delegation that the North West Province is the ideal gateway to Africa, due to the province bordering Botswana, the corridor to Namibia and the ease of access to SADC and the rest of Africa from South Africa.
Mr Nale pointed out the vast consumer market of over 250 million consumers that are accessible to investors thanks to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Mr Nale highlighted the priority investment sectors as being Energy, Transport, Green technology manufacturing, Agro-processing, Eco tourism and Health/Life Sciences.
With regards to mining investments, Mr Nale emphasised the importance of locally beneficiating minerals being mined, as opposed to the export of raw materials.
Discussions focussed on the various investment and trade opportunities available to both parties, especially in the envisaged Bojanala Special Economic Zone.
