The proudly North West Temo Foundation hosted an International Day of Women in Mining celebration on 15 June 2022.
Hosted at the lovely Bubbles Champagne Garden on the water’s edge in Hartebeespoortdam, the event was well-attended by women from various mines and women in mining contractors and business owners.
The North West Development Corporation was one of the named event sponsors, offering support and promotional gifts to attendees.
The celebration took the format of a motivational panel discussion which set in motion an informal and collaborative session of the sharing of stories, challenges and aspirations, complemented by valuable networking. The initial panel discussion was led by the host and founder of Temo Foundation, Tebogo Mosete; formidable woman in mining and founder of the Eastern Cape Province Mining Indaba, Tando Mandela , and regional sales and operations manager for Cell C in the North West, Mr Simon Mashao, who also wore the cap of special guest sponsor.
It was commendable to learn how many of the attendees ran their own foundations alongside an existing business, advocating for women and children-related causes such as Gender-Based Violence, orphans and teenage pregnancies.
The discussions at the event inspired women to share their stories and empower one another.
Ms Keneilwe Mogotsi from YouFm shared an opportunity that has become available on YouFm, for North West women in business to be profiled in the new YouFm Business Hour show; and motivated the business owners in the room to get into contact with her.
