A Christmas message by the NWDC CEO, Tshepo Phetla
If you are fortunate enough to be reading this message, you have much to celebrate. By grace and mercy you were carried through the second year of a global pandemic.
For most of us the year 2021 turned out to be a challenging year, and surely not exactly what we were hoping for, coming out of the historic and unprecedented 2020.
Yet, we find ourselves in December of 2021, which in itself, is reason for reflection and celebration.
Let us reflect on the tenacity that lies in connectivity to others. Let us reflect on the strength of the collective human spirit and the value of carrying each other; because frankly, not one of us arrived at this point on our own. Let us celebrate God’s grace and protection during the year that was.
As we wind down to spend time with friends and family, I wish you a blessed and peaceful festive season. May you use the opportunity to express your appreciation and care towards your loved ones, colleagues, neighbours, and health care workers, not forgetting the less fortunate among us.
Please be safe on the roads, and act responsibly in public spaces and at gatherings, observing Covid-19 prevention protocols.
We look forward to ringing in the New Year, already beckoning with new opportunities and that unfading light called Hope.
