The North West Covid-19 Relief Fund for the formal and informal sectors of the North West Province was launched on 1 June 2020. Following from the two-month application window, NW Covid-19 Relief Fund applications for the Formal sector will close at midnight on Friday, 31 July 2020.
The North West Covid-19 Relief Fund is the initiative of the North West Provincial Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (DEDECT).
Since the launch date, applications were being received from both the formal and the informal sector, with large volumes of qualifying applications being captured and processed by the executing agency, the NWDC.
As was announced in Provincial Treasury’s Budget Adjustment on Thursday, 23 July 2020: “The allocation of the DEDECT includes SMME Relief of R40 million as a relief to SMME’s from the adverse impact of Covid-19.” Therefore, the budget for the Covid-19 Relief Fund has been duly appropriated, which means feedback and pay-outs to successful applicants could be expected soon.
Following from the two-month application window, NW Covid-19 Relief Fund applications for the Formal sector will close on Friday, 31 July 2020.
A closing date for applications from the informal sector will be determined in the near future, once application volumes subside.
All formal and informal applications that were received are currently being processed.
