The North West Development Corporation, an entity that has recently merged with the previous Invest North West and MIDZ, took initiative in extending the directive given by the President of South Africa, Mr Jacob Zuma and the North West Premier, Mr Supra Mahumapelo to participate in a clean-up campaign to honour Mandela Day.
With a footprint across the North West Province, the NWDC commenced its clean-up campaign in the Setlopo/Dithakong Area in Mahikeng. The Honourable Motlalepula Rosho, the Chief Executive Officer for the NWDC, Mr Mojalefa Nale, and some NWDC Staff enthusiastically started the day with the painting of walls and the fixing of windows at Letsomane Creche. Other NWDC staff members were transported to the Seleri Primary School grounds to cut grass and trim trees. The 67 minutes turned into 5 hours with the CEO of NWDC, Mojalefa Nale declaring that the cleaning up and painting of the Letsomane Crèche will not only be something done for 67 minutes but will extend until such time as the Crèche is in an acceptable/safe state for children to attend. Mr Nale further elaborated that the latter will then definitely add more to the legacy left by Nelson Mandela and will be a contribution towards the future of children in that area. The day’s activities in Mahikeng were concluded by the staff singing to the former MEC for Economic Development, Environment, Conservation & Tourism, the Honourable Motlalepula Rosho, who would celebrate her birthday the following day.
The clean-up campaign was not left there. NWDC Staff in Bojanala made their contribution by visiting the Moremogolo Primary School in Phokeng where they not only assisted in cleaning the school but also planted a vegetable garden to assist with the provision of certain foods for the future. Staff in the Babelegi/Ga-Rankuwa area did their part by contributing to the cleaning and sanitising of their local communities.
