NEW YORK CITY – JUNE 2024
Two companies from the North West took their products to the 2024 edition of the Summer Fancy Food Show where they exhibited in the African Fine Foods Pavilion from 23 to 25 June 2024.
The Trade and Investment division of the North West Development Corporation facilitated Lefakong Farming and Bokamoso Foods’ attendance in New York through co-funding. Lefakong Farming produces moringa products, while Bokamoso is a honey products specialist.
After inviting applications from NWDC’s food exporters database, NWDC assisted the successful applicants in applying for funding through USAID Africa Trade and Investment (ATI). The USAID ATI is a flexible buy-in mechanism that is designed to bolster the US government’s ability to boost trade and investment to, from, and within the African continent
.
For Bokamoso Foods, it was their first exposure at this show. Following a successful 2023 show at which Lefakong Farming received many enquiries and strong leads, NWDC assisted them in returning in 2024 to finalise deals with buyers.
The Summer Fancy Food Show is the largest specialty food trade show, providing exhibitors with an opportunity to connect with over 30 000 leading buyers, distributors, and retailers while they network with peers and enjoy access to world-class educational programmes.

Bokamoso Foods had the privilege of participating in the Summer Fancy Foods show in New York with the generous support of NWDC. We received positive feedback from the American market regarding our social enterprise, Bee Loved Honey. Our work in the North West with vulnerable communities was highly appreciated, leading to promising prospects for expanding our presence in the US market. This development is particularly exciting as it not only benefits Bokamoso and our Bee farmers but also contributes positively to the South African economy, while showcasing the rich resources and minerals of the North West region. NWDC played a pivotal role in ensuring Bokamoso Foods' participation at the show, which was crucial in securing these opportunities and leads.
