SUN CITY, North West Province – The picturesque Sun City Resort played host to a landmark event on 16 and 17 April 2025, as the Office of the North West Premier convened the “Captains of Industries on Partnership Opportunities for Economic Growth” summit.
This high-profile gathering brought together key stakeholders from various sectors to explore collaborative strategies aimed at driving economic growth in the region. NWDC participated as a key partner during the two-day event.
Day 1: Strategic Discussions and Collaborative Insights
The event kicked off on 17 April with a roundtable discussion led by Premier Lazarus Kagiso Mokgosi. The Premier, alongside Members of the Executive Council, Heads of Departments and industry leaders, delved into critical topics such as sustainable job creation, poverty alleviation, and the implementation of key initiatives from the 2025 State of the Province Address (SOPA). The discussions highlighted the importance of leveraging the province’s dominant sectors, including mining, agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, ICT, engineering, and construction
Premier Mokgosi emphasised the need for a unified approach to overcome economic barriers and unlock new opportunities. “Our goal is to create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive, thereby fostering economic growth and improving the quality of life for our residents,” he stated.
Day 2: Charity Golf Day
The second day of the event featured the Premier’s Charity Golf Tournament, held at the Lost City Golf Course. This event not only provided a relaxed setting for networking but also served a noble cause. Prominent golfers such as NWDC’s very own CEO, Mr Mojalefa Nale, golfers from the business community and professional organisations participated, with proceeds earmarked for educational initiatives in the Moretele Local Municipality and Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality.
The tournament was a success, with participants enjoying a day of friendly competition while contributing to the community.
Premier Mokgosi, along with representatives from the private sector, announced donations of laptops, sanitary towels, and Wi-Fi installations for Grade 12 learners in the beneficiary schools.
